poetry day of awesomeness

We went to the Wichita mountains with the lit society today on a poetry writing retreat.
I think you all know how much I love writing poetry, so here it is: Hope you like it

Majestic peace

I see the mountain there
but my head is somewhere else
As I scale the wild face
my foot slips on a stone
I'm dreaming of the cool, crisp air
that wraps it's arms around me
I see your face glance down at me
as you reach out and touch my hand.
The rope around my waist goes tout
and reminds me where I am
My hands grab hold of cold rock pieces
as I swing myself up the mountain
with no great force of expertise
I climb straight to the top
And staring down at the great beyond
I stand to catch my breath
my arms help wide
my face aglow
with smiles and with wonder
I grasp your hand
as we take it all in
this majestic scene of peace!

Flashback to my former life

The fog rolls in, clouding my gaze.

a man in a red hat walks through the smog

my heart skips a beat as I watch him come forward

he waves in my direction, smiling wide

A man in a red hat walks through the smog

a woman behind brushes my shoulder

he waves in my direction smiling wide

She breaks into a run and leaps into his arms

a woman behind brushes my shoulder

I look back to see her expression gleaming

she breaks into a run and leaps into his arms

another man cuts through the fog like a knife

I look back to see her expression gleaming

I’m jealous of the love I see in her eyes

another man cuts through the fog like a knife

my husband, one limb short walks by.

I’m jealous of the love I see in her eyes

Sorrow keeps my face turned down low

my husband, one limb short walks by

woman, my bag needs taking, take hold.

Sorrow keeps face turned down low

my heart skips a beat as I see him come forward

woman my bag needs taking, take hold

the fog rolls in, clouding my gaze.

my life as told by Matisyahu

One Day - Matisyahu
sometimes I lay
under the moon
and thank God I'm breathing
then I pray
don't take me soon
cause I am here for a reason
sometimes in my tears I drown
but I never let it get me down
so when negativity surrounds
I know some day it'll all turn around
because
all my life I've been waiting for
I've been praying for
for the people to say
that we don't wanna fight no more
they'll be no more wars
and our children will play
one day x6
it's not about
win or lose
we all lose
when they feed on the souls of the innocent
blood drenched pavement
keep on moving though the waters stay raging
in this maze you can lose your way (your way)
it might drive you crazy but don't let it faze you no way (no way)
sometimes in my tears I drown
but I never let it get me down
so when negativity surrounds
I know some day it'll all turn around
because
all my life I've been waiting for
I've been praying for
for the people to say
that we don't wanna fight no more
they'll be no more wars
and our children will play
one day x6
one day this all will change
treat people the same
stop with the violence
down with the hate
one day we'll all be free
and proud to be
under the same sun
singing songs of freedom like
one day x4
all my life I've been waiting for
I've been praying for
for the people to say
that we don't wanna fight no more
they'll be no more wars
and our children will play
one day x6
ooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

that was what I was thinking about today. I was thinking about peace, love and freedom.
good day and good night

DUM DUM DUM DUM!!!!

I Miss Lydia, would like to announce to the world that I have been cast in my first movie!
MZU
Midwestern Zombie University

Yes its going to be awesome, yes I will be the star (sort of, not really haha) and yes, we are going to go paranormal activity on their faces. (for those of you who don't know, Paranormal activity was a very low budget horror film that has grossed a rediculous amount of money and is basically ten kinds of awesome!)

This is being hosted by Club Greenlight at MZU (get it? zombie school?? It was kinda funny??) The directing, writing, editing and acting is all being done by students of MSU. We are all very excited and hope you can all come see the finished product when it is done.

And FYI- If you come to see the movie, you will get to see me kill a freaking Zombie. Now isn't that just super worth it??

hearts, love and rejoicing

love not violence

pac⋅i⋅fist -Noun
The belief that disputes between nations should and can be settled peacefully.
a person who believes in pacifism or is opposed to war or to violence of any kind.
a person whose personal belief in pacifism causes him or her to refuse being drafted into military service. Compare
conscientious objector.

I was having a great conversation with my mother the other day about violence. I was saying that the boys in our society are becoming increasingly more violent to prove their worth as men. This is scaring me. It is mirrored in politics, world relations, family relationships and media. To be a man you have to act a very specific way, hunt, shoot, football, beer.

I went to Acadamy sports with my friend Adam to buy tips for his arrows. I saw the tips that were used to actually kill animals and I had to walk away very quickly because I knew I was going to be sick. This is what we have out for our children to look an and buy for their pleasure. I don't really understand how someone can have fun shooting a fuzzy bunny with an arrow tip that looks like something that the child of rambo and a chyanne chief would have.

I have found that I come off as a very agressive person. I am loud, obnoxious, and usually voice my opinions readily. I use far to many hyperboles in my speech for me to be completely coherent. This needs to change. If I don't think it is right for someone to punch another in the face, I shouldn't say I want to punch someone in the face. Setting a double standard is what I do best! I have to change this image.

I believe that every dispute can be settled with words and love. There should never be a need for guns, knives or the blasted atomic bomb. If I put my arms around the world would they see that there is love around them? I weep for the future of our children, where they will only see the destruction we have left behind. If we keep up the cycle we are in right now we wont have to worry about over population, we will have killed enough to fix the problem.

I don't want this to be a message of doom and gloom. It is a message of joy and hope for our future. If you can show love to just a handful of people, and they do the same, we will start our own love it forward movement, and that is a beautiful thing. Jesus always preached love, above everything else there was love. I do not belong to a religion of hate, tradition, or boredom. I belong to the only religion I can believe in: the religion of love. (1Jn 3:16) I will love today.

new pouches

I have taken my dear Courtney's idea and made it my own. I have these new pouches in my etsy shop. (daisysinherhair.etsy.com)
these were made this weekend

All three were made from Vanna choice yarn and buttons from my stash. They don't even take up much yarn!

These were made today, the blue one was made out of organic bamboo yarn and the green one was made out of Lion brand thick and quick yarn

In other news I went for a camp out on my memorial day weekend. With my Meg and her family. We drove 1 hour north to the Wichita mountains near Lawton Oklahoma. It was beautiful I got a really funny video of me climbing a tree and getting my bum stuck. We have some pictures. This was our campsite where we got to have our campout.

we were there for less than 2 hours and got rained out! So we went to the museum and had some more fun just milling about.

I hope you all had a fabulous memorial day.

bless

Lydia

I woke up at 11, this starts my day of crafty adventures! When you wake up at 11 and immediately you have to get your car inspected what is the one ingredient you need in your bloodstream? Why caffiene of course. Therefore, I downed my first cup of java for the day,

7 cups later I decided it was high time I started crafting.

I found a pattern the other day for a purse that I thought was the greatest thing since sliced bread and juice boxes. http://tinyhappy.typepad.com/tiny_happy/2006/06/shoulder_bag_tu.html#comment-22767991

so I decided to try it. (yes I did it my way, which means I disregarded all instructions and made it freestyle! BAD IDEA) Dont worry it all turned out alright in the end, not exactly what I pictured, but then again what is?

here are some pictures of how it went:

woot

This is finals week here at LCU. Scary time to be alive in my life, and yet I am relatively calm and chilled out! Why you might ask??? BEcause I am a music major and have already finished the difficult part. We have this thing called jurys, you sing 2 songs infront of all of your music proffessors. Then they choose another song from your reportoir. This is probably the scariest thing I have ever had to do in my life. But that is ok. I will get throught it!!

In other news I have new coasters. These have bows, my friend courtney (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6215188) had the idea. I think they fit kind of perfectly.

So I finally have my first item up in my etsy shop. It is a set of 4 coasters. im really really excited about it!! I may finally have this going!!! so please wish me luck!!!
Have a blessed day everyone.

first post

Good evening lovely people. This is my first attempt at a crafting blog, I have been crafting most of my life but if you have any advice it would be much appreciated!

I started crafting when I was 8 and at summer camp. I made my first beaded lizard and friendship bracelet. It was a great summer. From there my mother taught me to sew, embroider, knit and crochet. Right now I specialize in handmade, crocheted items.

The project I am working on right now was inspired by my friend Stephanie, and improved upon by my friend courtney ( thedappleapple.etsy.com )

Photobucket

this is a coaster set for Stephanie. I will soon have them up on etsy in all different colors. Im thinking a set of 4 for $12 and 6 for $15 plus shipping.
